Should You Wax a Pregnant Woman?

When a woman is pregnant, there are a lot of things they can’t do – drink alcohol, eat sushi, ride a rollercoaster or use certain essential oils. It also becomes more and more difficult to deal with the increased body hair. Luckily, when it comes to waxing, staying properly groomed isn’t a sacrifice that needs to be made.

Luckily, when it comes to waxing, staying properly groomed isn’t a sacrifice that pregnant women need to make.

There’s no need to hesitate if you are pregnant, but there are a few things to keep in mind. Pregnancy can cause various aches and pains, but it also makes skin extra sensitive and itchy because of the increased blood flow throughout the body. It can also be more painful when the hair grows back. Many pregnant women aren’t aware of these issues, it is also important that your waxer knows about your situation, if that isn't obvious enough.

As always, it’s important that you use the highest grade of new wax, strips, and applicators. Never double-dip your applicators because it increases the risk of infection, and always start with a patch test to avoid any possible allergic reaction.

If you have open cuts, varicose veins, rashes, scar tissue, moles, pimples, or warts, which can all become more irritated by the pregnancy, you should not proceed with any waxing sessions, regardless of the quality of your waxing supplies and your expertise.

Another thing to consider is the temperature of the wax. Yes I know, nobody wants to be burned with overheated wax, but pregnant women's skin is extra sensitive so go over the manufacturer's directions or even better use a low-temperature wax. You will appreciate the difference.

Once you’ve completed your waxing session with your pregnant client, make sure to use a soothing antiseptic lotion on any area you’ve waxed. You may even consider providing a lotion to your client to use at home. This can help keep their skin soft and supple and reduce the chances of developing a rash or other irritation later on.

If you’re a pregnant woman who wants to experience the wonderful results that come along with being waxed, don’t be put off. If you're healthy and don’t have any open wounds or other skin issues, there’s no need to hesitate. Just make sure your waxing supplies are hygienically prepared and that you understand that the process could be more painful than usual. Once everything is ready, use your skills to look and feel better and more confident than before you wax.

Happy Waxing = Happy Woman = Happy Mom = Happy Baby
